It is with great sadness that I inform you that David passed away in the early hours of Friday 10th October.
David had been a good friend of mine and had a very big influence on me, particularly the way I have run the junior sections I have been involved with over the years.
I first met David twenty years ago when I was looking after the juniors at Tracy Park and David was the secretary for the Bristol & District Junior League. When I then left Tracy Park to move to Cheltenham and Cotswold Hills, it was David that put in words for me to ensure I was able to move up the waiting list.
Then when I took over county juniors in 2000 David was the South West Secretary. In 2008 he became the President of the South Western Counties Golf Association.
He was always a very big supporter of junior golf. Always supporting Knowle, Gloucestershire and the South West and very proud of them all. Many juniors who have progressed in the South West have achieved because of the extraordinary work David has put in over the years, as well as his continued enthusiasm.
David, RIP, you will be fondly remembered by us all.
