Gloucestershire U14s struggle away against Glamorgan

Gloucestershire U14s struggled away at Brynhill on Friday 30th May against Glamorgan loosing 12.5 / 2.5.

The Gloucestershire boys found the competition just too good for them but will undoubtedly learn from the experience.

Tom Cousins (Henbury) and Mike Downey (Cotswold Hills) performed very well to take the only win in the morning foursomes 6&5.

In the afternoon Jamie Dick (Forest Hills) won 2&1 and Mike Downey fought back from dormy 3 down to half his game - the second time in two matches he has saved a dormy game.

Gloucestershire victorius at SWCGA U16/U14 Championship

Adam Carson (Long Ashton) was 3rd on count back with a -1 par 69 and Sam Sullivan =4th with a level par 70.

Last years winner Chris Lloyd (The Kendleshire) although still eligible was unable to play due to exam studies.

An excellent day for Gloucestershire that complete an excellent week for the county returning to winning ways.

Gloucestershire U18 team return to winning ways

The Gloucestershire Junior team returned to winning ways against Wiltshire on Tuesday 27th May in their Junior Channel League match at Chipping Sodbury, winning 11-4.

It was a new look Gloucestershire junior side with England U16 internationals Chris Lloyd and Adam Carson missing due to exam revision and three other top players including team captain Kyle Trewin unavailable due to work commitments. It gave an opportunity for three uncapped players that won their places via the Junior County Championships to show their talent. All three performing very well.

Gloucestershire dominated from the start with a decisive 4-1 win in the foursomes followed up by some superb golf in the afternoon to close the match off.

Despite the appalling weather Oli shot two excellent rounds of 69 on Sunday to retain the title from England U16 international Chris Lloyd (The Kendleshire). Another of our England U16 internationals (we have three with Oscar Sharpe - Minchinhampton !), Adam Carson (Long Ashton) was 6th.

Josh Harris (Forest Of Dean), Matt Parratt (The Kendleshire) and Sam Morgan (Bristol & Clifton) were also in the top 20.
